Works fine as Zebco reels are designed to do. Only drawback is weight. Could not match-up with intended rod given weight of this “33 Max Gold” reel. Also, noticed a comment about Zebco pricing from another review and would have to agree. For $4 more, one can purchase an “Omega” which has more ball bearings, an additional ceramic pick-up and less weight.

It lasted two days before it falls apart from gentle use :((( I have used zebco reels for my entire life and I just cannot buy another one because I keep having to leave my fishing trips solely because the reel just disassembles itself from being used how its designed to be used. Waste of metal.

You don’t have to spend a fortune. This is an exceptional reel that will bring in a good size fish with no problem. It’s durable, easy to use, and reeling in that Catfish will be smooth and fun.

First things first, throw away the line that comes with the reel. It's okay enough but if you switch it for a "good" mono line then this reel becomes supernatural. I went with sunline 4# with a 2# Flouro Leader. THIS REEL IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH BRAIDED LINE! I typically throw "Joes flies" spinners with the treble hook cut off and they are LIGHT, this reel on my little 4'6" rod throws those little things a mile, it's really unbelievable. Perfect little river trout setup.
